The Canon Speedlite 270EX is an enhanced flash designed for users of Canon's EOS and PowerShot ranges. The Speedlite 270EX is a replacement unit to the popular Speedlite 220EX and is aimed at photographers who want to expand their flash photography beyond in-built flash and require a compact, pocketable flash. The Canon Speedlite 270EX includes a host of new features that take the standard of entry level flash units to an even higher level. Amongst these new features is the addition of a zoom head, enabling light from the flash to bounce off a ceiling to produce pictures with more flattering lighting with softer tones and depth. The Canon Speedlight 270 EX also offers improved circuitry for near silent recharging and facilitates similar recycling times as it's predecessor, despite being powered by just 2 AA batteries.

    The Canon Speedlite 270EX is the perfect flash unit for the G series of Canon's PowerShot range. It is particularly well suited to the G10, and G11. It is compact but reasonably powerful and has a tilting head, essential for removing harsh shadows.

    It's fine, too of course, with Canon's EOS digital range, but one of the bigger, more powerful guns would be better suited to the bigger cameras.

    New model from Canon bought because I was disappointed with the built in flash on the EOS400D.It is smaller than expected but you cannot fault the performance.Skin tones are more lifelike and not washed out,its performance for its size I think is exceptional.
    The bonus is found in its design-the head pulls forward to give you greater distance and it also tilts for bouncing off ceilings.
    I cannot recommended this highly enough-go buy!

    I purchased this flash because of its compact size, it is easier to carry around and looks less intrusive on the camera but still manages to give much better results then my EOS 450D built in flash. It seems ideal for my occasional use, and despite its size it has plenty of features as found on the more expensive models. Probably if you use flash extensively, you would go for the larger and more expensive Speedlites, but I suspect for many people this will be an ideal choice, and of course it is cheaper.
