great portable media device, 31 May 2010
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sony PSP 3000 Series Slim and Lite Handheld Console (Black) (Video Game)
I didn't realise when i brought the 3000 that not only are there dozens of great games to buy on UMD disks that are really cheap now, but also it plays all types of files and also connects to the internet wirelessly.
In my opinion the 3000 is a far better choice than the download only pspgo because there are a lot of games available for a tenner or under on umd disk...whereas prices of download games for the go are controlled and kept artificially high.
I've been playing loccorocco 2 for weeks now and it's an amazing game. But have also picked up many great games like gta vice city stories, outrun, lumines 2, god of war, daxter and lots more many for around a fiver.
Movies can be downloaded on Mp4 format and stored on a psp compatible memory card and look and sound great on the screen...it's like having a mini hd screen you can take anywhere.
accessories....there are lots of official and unofficial accesories including a go cam ...which enables you to take photos and videos and some games use it too.
you can pause games and turn off the 3000 at any piont and turn it back on again at exact same place... that isn't just a psp go feature as some articles would lead you to believe.
I brought an add on to make holding it more comfortable as i was getting cramp in my thumbs after playing a while...with the add on its very comfortable...can't remember name of it but i reviewed it.

Hands Down the Best PSP Model!!, 21 May 2010
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sony PSP 3000 Series Slim and Lite Handheld Console (Black) (Video Game)
I have no problems with my psp at all. I love them very much, all versions, especially the 3003. You can attach a camera and use skype, the weight is much better than the non slim and lite versions, stops cramping. UMD's are less noisy, plus you can download games from the store. It's true you can do some of the things mentioned before on the 2000 slim and higher, but the screen has less glare outside and the screen is more vibrant, the ghosting has been reduced considerably. It also has a built in Microphone unlike psp 2000's. Beats the PSP go Hands down!! The left and right buttons on those things are a nightmare, hiding behind the sliding screen. Battery life seems a lot longer too. A++++ thumbs up, love it :)

Great for playing on the go but some issues overall, 30 Aug 2010
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Sony PSP 3000 Series Slim and Lite Handheld Console (Black) (Video Game)
First of all I really enjoy the PSP for its primary purpose of playing games on the go. The fact that it offers additional features (built in skype, browser, etc) is an added bonus.
The graphics will not compete with a full console like a Sony PlayStation 3 Slim Console (250GB Model) but then again this is not feasible in a small, portable package. Looking at racing games, the graphics on say a Gran Turismo (PSP) will pretty much match those on Gran Turismo 4 (PS2) for the PS2 but not those of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - Platinum Edition (PS3) for PS3. The sound from the built in speakers leaves a bit to be desired but is good enough with headphones. Speaking of which, regular ones will fit but Sony specific ones can be used if one wants a remote, too.
Now to the not so great sides, of which there are few. The console comes without the essential memory stick, which is a bit of a nuisance, since the stick is more or less an essential component (similar to how most PS2 consoles were sold). Apart from that the recharging cable is extremely short (almost impossible to use the console pluged in) and the recharging time seems quite long, or put differently, recharging for an hour seems to do practically nothing for filling the PSP up. Battery life is OK, if not stellar - you can use it for about 3 hours of play but should not plan on a whole day of mobile play on the same battery. Some of the construction appears a bit flimsy (port for memory stick, and the one for inserting the game disks) but unless you treat it roughly, I assume it will work fine. It also comes with no really useful accessories (mentioned memory stick, headphones or sth similar).
So a good mobile console overall but I would see it more as a complement, rather than a substitute to a stationary console like a PS3 or XBox 360.
