N-dubz - Uncle B - Cd

Amazon.co.uk

Dappy, Tulisa and Faze are a trio of young rappers/vocalists from Camden who have been working hard to build up a solid UK fan base, putting on energetic live shows and diligently touring British secondary schools. Their work ethic has paid dividends, since the trio are now regarded by many as teen pop idols, and rightly so: their debut album, Uncle B, is an immediately likeable record that manages to blend big, hooky pop choruses with some serious ‘urban’ credentials - despite the group’s age and radio-friendly lyrics. The production – r&b mixed with UK-grime-lite rather than straight up rap – is equally compelling, with coruscating melodies and stuttering beats providing an edgy yet appealing soundtrack for Dappy and Faze’s London twangs and Tulisa’s powerful vocals. Faster tracks are broken up with ballads like “Ouch” and “Secrets,” and though the rapping is occasionally awkward and the lyrics sometimes clichéd (The Streets they are not), this is a confident, mature and highly impressive debut. --Danny McKenna

I bought this album on the strength of 'Strong again' and 'Wouldn't you', and the rest of the album didn't disappoint. Strong lyrics and a strong beat, most of the songs make reference to 'Uncle B' and the guidence and support he gave to the band in its early days, before his untimely passing. Keep an open mind if you, like me, didn't know too much about N-Dubz before buying this album. I must admit that this is not the kind of music I listen to, however, after listening to the album several times, I was completely won over. I am now a fan of this band and look forward to all their upcoming, future material.

All Around The World Records has made a sensational album with three sensational teens; Dappy, Tulisa and Fazer.
With Dappy's catchy raps, Fazer's smoother raps and Tulisa'a powerhouse R&B style vocals, this album is the start of something great for the Dynamite Trio.

1. Intro- Dappy's explanation of the album's name.

2. Wouldn't You- A hypnotic smooth opening to the groups talent, Tulisa leads this stunner!

3. Strong Again- A catchy, uptempo and melodic piece of work, this is definately single material.

4. Don't Get Nine- One hell of a catchy track, Tulisa leads this 'Box Fresh' material, tellin all of u, that u only get one chance not nine. Includes an argument between the boy's and Tulisa.

5. I Swear- Part 1 of a relationship in danger (From the male's perspective), one of their bigger hits, fresh beats and catchy pipes carrying the song.

6. Ouch- Part 2 of a relationship in danger (From the female's perspective), Tulisa leads this chart topping belter. Any N-Dubz fan is in love with this catchy and powerful song.

7. N-Dubz Vs Naa (Ft. Big Narstie & Solo)- The first of two face offs on the album, Naa brings some heavy raps to this battle but they're no match for Dappy's chat back attitude, Fazer's taunts and Tulisa's maternal vocals. Haha

8. Public Transport (Skit)- Really this is pure randomness, 18 seconds of Fazer telling people to earn a one way ticket to jail.

9. Love For My Slum (Ft. Baker Trouble)- One of the weakest tracks, it's not memorable and it's not catchy, personally I'd skip this track.

N-Dubz are, in my opinion, one of the most underrated bands of all time. They're a typical example of how stereotyping and the class divide in the UK is out of control - just because they've had tough council-estate upbringings, love tracksuits and use slang, people immediately dismiss them and call them chavs, vermin, scum, anything derogatory, without having even listened to their music or watched them being interviewed. However, anyone who has listened to their music and seen them interviewed will know that they are three of the hardest-working, down-to-earth and nicest people in the music industry. Listen to their track Work Work off this album and then tell me that they're violent layabouts who send out a bad message to young people! They've been working flat out since they were little kids in the Lickle Rinsers Crew, and even back then were producing some kick-ass tunes (for example I Wanna Make It - a quality underground UK Garage/Grime track that I can't stop listening to). Okay, they've had their run-ins with the law, but they've also worked damn hard to drag themselves out of the cycle that many others with a similar upbringing fall into - drugs, teenage pregnancies, the dole etc.). And they should be praised for that - not slated.

While the later two albums, Against All Odds and Love.Live.Life, took merely a year to be released, Uncle B was years in the making. It's also a lot more underground than the other albums, and far less commercial, and I think it's this that makes Uncle B their best album. This is N-Dubz as they were back in the days of Channel U, when no one knew who they were, before Dappy's solo number one single and Tulisa's judging role on X Factor, before they became household names. And is it good? No. Its great!

I absolutely love N-Dubz and am a huge fan of theirs and I think this album is amazing. It has a really good mix of tracks which showcase all their talents. Dappy and Fazer are amazing rappers and Tulisa has such a powerful voice. I have been lucky enough to see N-Dubz live and they're one of the few artists who sound as amazing live as they do on their CD. Uncle B includes both some of their classics such as Better Not Waste My Time and I Swear as well as newer tracks such as Papa Can You Hear Me and Wouldn't You which is their new single.
My fave tracks on Uncle B are: Ouch, Secrets, Wouldn't You, Don't Get Nine and Papa Can You Hear Me.
I definitely recommend you to buy this album since it will be one of the best purchases you ever make and I for one can't stop listening to it.
