How many dancers have watched Rachel Brice or another Tribal dancer doing those slow, sinuous movements and spluttered in awe and wonder? Ever debated whether she actually *has* bones in her arms and how on earth she does it? Here's your answer- Rachel passes on the secret to those snaky arm movements, broken down slowly, with drills and exercises at each stage to prepare you to add the next bit. I found myself identifying and using muscles I'd never used before, and using others in ways I'd never experienced- my shoulders are much more flexible and have a far greater range of movement now. She also breaks down some preparations for level changes...eep, be prepared to feel your calves and thighs for a couple of days afterwards, but I assure you it does get easier with practise! My husband has borrowed some of these conditioning exercises for his football and is very impressed! The feel of this dvd is quite different to her first- Tribal Fusion Belly Dance [2005] aesthetically the first feels very focussed and uncluttered, this one has a cosier, slightly darker-and-warmer feel. It lacks the multi-length sessions of the first, but there's always the dvd chapters to create your own session, and as the dvd moves in a logical progression, I tend to stop when my body tells me I've gone as far as I can. I wouldn't use this dvd on its own- it won't teach you much other than Rachel's trademark arm movements- but in conjunction with her first, the two make for a fantastic practise session and your dancing will feel the benefit!

I was so looking forward to this DVD, having enjoyed Rachel's first DVD and having also attended a workshop with her in London. She breaks down the technique for arm and upper body movements, but I was a little disappointed that she stops short of completing the movements out through the hands, which is something she herself does so beautifully. For this reason alone, I cannot give it the full five stars, but it's still a great addition to the library of belly dance technique DVDs, whether you are a Tribal/Fusion dancer or more traditional.

I've been Bellydancing for a couple of years, but recently I'd found that my dancing had become a little stale - no problem with finding new moves for my body, but my arms were lacking in things to do. Also, as a Boxer, I'd developed very poor posture, with pronounced rounded shoulders and a horribly curved spine.
This dvd moves at a great pace, with clear instruction, and has really helped with both my posture and my dancing. My shoulders now have a much wider range of movement, and my arms have more to do in my dancing. The appearance of my arms has changed from "beefy man-muscles" (from Boxing), to "well-defined, toned femininity", and both my dancing and my boxing have benefited from the new ways my muscles around the shoulders have learned to move.
I'd recommend this dvd to anyone, particularly those who seek to improve shoulder mobility, definition, strength and posture. Brilliant.

Rachel is very famous for its snake-like arms and posture and this DVD can reveal how she finally make it

She illustrates how to move your arms as well as some yoga arm strech skills to inprove your flexibility of arms. The ox face one could be a bit hard for ones never did yoga before, but for me it is ok since I have done yoga for quite a long time.If you focus on your arm movements you will find her practice is very intensive actually. After practice for the whole DVD you will feel a bit sour in your arms and that's how it works

I was hesitating between 3 or 4 stars.

While this DVD was ok, I was a little disappointed with the contents. It's not very long and a big part of it is given to the warm up and yoga postures, which are very good but I was expecting a little more focus on the arms and actual moves she does during her shows. I had watched just before "Opulent Motion" by Sarah Skinner which surprisingly has a lot more moves and concrete stuff to use immediately about arm postures, more than this DVD with Rachel Brice which is supposed to be all about arms and posture.

While I would still recommend this DVD (you can always learn something from anything and if you're into oriental dancing, it's good to have a wide range of DVDs and exposure to different styles etc), I would still recommend to get the one by Sarah Skinner if you had to choose between the 2. Although they are different styles (Sarah's is more American/traditional), she has a lot more useful content in her DVD.
