Fans of the movies of Italian director Dario Argento will be aware of the band Goblin, who provided the soundtrack to many an Argento movie. Zombie Zombie certainly are as 'A Land For Renegades' is clearly an attempt to create something similar. As such it's a resounding success as the band have perfectly captured the feel of Goblin's music and the undercurrent of gnawing dread that ran through it and made it perfect for horror movies. Even 'Nightclubbing' has been transformed into something that could have been lifted straight from the soundtrack of an eighties Italian zombie movie. However, easy as it is to admire the craft that has gone into 'A Land For Renegades', I find it a much harder album to like. I just find the music too oppressive, too heavy-going to want to listen to it that frequently. 'A Land For Renegades' is certainly worth a listen, how often you stick it on after that is another matter.
