Is the grass really greener on the other side? Yes, and it smells better too!  Season 2 of the critically-acclaimed award-winning TV comedy drama Weeds is back as it follows the highs and lows of ‘dealing’ with life in the suburbs. Funnier, darker and breaking more rules than ever before, the second season of Weeds sees the return of the brilliant cast led by Golden Globe® winner* Mary-Louise Parker (The West Wing, Fried Green Tomatoes) who plays Nancy Botwin, the suburban mother of two who had to learn how to deal – pot that is – after the death of her husband. Now, her business is a hit, but keeping up with the neighbours in this suburban utopia isn’t easy. She’s joined up with a few of her closest friends and together they’re facing life’s highs and lows – because even in paradise, nothing is perfect.

With sex and drugs, the only thing missing from this idyllic suburbia is the rock ‘n’ roll! But even that gets covered with a special guest appearance by Snoop Dogg. Nancy and her partners in crime reset the bar for what is meant by ‘desperate housewives’ as things spin out of. Friendships are made and broken, and love is lost and found so get set for the ‘trip’ of a lifetime and follow the twist and turns that this sensational series delivers.

If any of you remember SOAP a parody of soaps in general this is effectively an adult version centred around a widow attempting to maintain her lifestyle and keep her family together by selling weed to her friends in a Stepford Wifes style neighbourhood. Wonderfully acted with great oneliners and sight gags liberally sprinkled throughout a winner in every respect. With each episode lasting only 30 minutes an ideal tonic after a bad day, though I'd be surprised if you settle for one episode at a time. Be aware of explicit language and the odd raunchy scene so probably best avoided if the children and grandparents are about! Plot development keeps you glued as does the quality of the acting. You won't be disappointed. Series 3 introduces 'toe porn' to a wider audience, you have been warned or tempted!

Weeds is one of the few tv-shows out there (with exceptions such as Sex and the City) that isn't afraid to say what ever the hell it is thinking. Clever dialog and great acting. This "two-in-one" box-set is brilliant value for money. Will leave you wanting more... go on... buy it!

Nancy is a single mother of two boys still dealing with the recent death of her husband. With everyday expenses adding up, and a big house in Suburbia to pay for, Nancy is starting to struggle... So what do you do when your in a financial jam? You learn to sell pot!

The series follows Nancy's journey from being a victim of circumstance, into a confident women earning her own money and providing for her family. Along the way she meets various larger than life characters that help show her the ropes and build her business.

The series is described as a comedy, but I would say it fits more in the drama genre, with a vein of black comedy (it reminds me of Six Feet Under : Complete HBO Season 1 [DVD]). There are many heart wrenching moments that deal with tragedy, financial, and family problems - then all of sudden you can start laughing. It shows how well it is written to be able to provoke such opposing emotions in one episode.

An enjoyable series that highlights the lengths people will go to to provide and protect their families.
BTW - once you listen to the theme tune, it will be stuck in your head for days!

At last a TV series based on real life in the white suburbs. From the opening musical score on, I had a smile on my face that widened into an ear to ear grin, interupted only by hysterical laughter. An attractive widow living in a wealthy suburb of LA turns to selling weed to pay off debts and look after her two kids, then finds the job just a little too exciting and addictive, as indeed I did with the program. I became so addicted in fact, that I watched the entire first series in one long sitting, interupted only by neccessary trips to the toilet and kitchen for enough food to stave off the pain of acute hunger. I would like to personally kiss and hug the writers, cast, producers, directors and all involved for making this someone very, very happy. Stay home this week end and laugh till your face hurts.

the social issue is similar to "Breaking Bad"'s but here it's a comedy of American mores, a widow has to maintain her standard of living with 2 kids (very good actors)who are to say the least "trying". Similar to "desperate house wifes" but
a little naughtier in a way, I bought the existing 5 seasons after finishing the first 2 and am still not disappointed.

Excellent look into contemporary, suburbian, all-American, no-nonsense double moral. Set in Los Angeles, the series was broadcast on cable TV, and therefore displays the ups and downs of age 30-40-somethings in a wondrous setting without the Anglo-Saxon sensoreship of how we speak, have sex, and do drugs (yeah, hey, people do drugs...!). Professional acting.

I was hooked from the get go and after watching the entire series 1 & 2, I only have good things to say. Funny, great writing, excellent characters. Only downside is there appears to have been some odd editing. The recap at the beginning of each episode often shows scenes that have been cut out. I keep going back thinking I had missed an episode or two.. but no, there are parts missing. Still worth every cent.
