I bought this hoping it would be fast, but its slow, really really slow at reading and writing, it takes about 20 mins to do a GB

I sent mine back for a refund, it was appalling.

Read speed is fine but writing to this device is horribly slow. Expect to spend about 30 minutes per gigabyte writing to it unless you are working with small numbers of very large files in which case I'm getting about 2.25 minutes per gig. That said, my main reason for the purchase was to have a second internal drive for backups. It fits the bill for this purpose since I then only deal with small numbers of files
