I've been looking for a flash gun for my Canon 400D for ages . For price I paid on Amazon which was half its list , I couldn't resist.
I don't often use a flash as I prefer natural light but I wanted something more powerful than the built in pop up thing.
No it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the Canon branded flashed but it works and works well. The build quality is good as i'd expect from Sunpak having had this brand years ago
I read some reviews on it before I bought it and it scored well for a £100 flash! I paid half that remember!
So if like me you can't really justify £300 for flash gun go for this little beaut . Its fully auto but you can adjust the EV setting to get the exposure you want.

Couldn't afford a dedicated canon product, so went for this very reasonably priced gun. Had had one yrs ago so was hopeful it would perform as well. Am very pleased with this gun. Batteries last well, responsive and quick. Not tested it yet in any large areas but has done well at home.

Sunpak PF-30X Flash with E-TTL for Canon AF This flashgun was an absolute bargain when I bought it for under £45. There is no setting up to do, just attatch it to your camera and away you go. The photographs I have taken have all been ok. Not too light or too dark so the flash is doing it's job of metering just right. If you are not a professional photographer and you cannot afford the cost of a canon speedlite then this is the one for you. The only problem I have found is finding a reasonably priced diffuser, but I will keep looking.
