4.0 out of 5 stars finally, after all the waiting, 2 Dec 2007
By Susan Belcher "Su B" (St Helens, England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
The DVD company spent months winding everyone up - delay after delay and then a release date of 1 January 2020 - what they did to fans with the repeated changing of the release date is disgraceful - I just thank goodness that they have eventually released them, and well before 2020.

The four episodes included are: At Bertram's Hotel, Nemesis, Ordeal by Innocence and Towards Zero.

As with all the others that have starred Geraldine McEwan they should be listed as "loosely based on the stories by Agatha Christie"

I look at these the same way that I look at Margaret Rutherford's Miss Marple films - Agatha Christie's Miss Marple Collection - Murder she Said / Murder Ahoy / Murder At The Gallop / Murder Most Foul (4 Discs) (Box Set) (DVD) - thoroughly enjoyable crime dramas; however, I still believe that Joan Hickson created the best (more book accurate) Jane Marple - Agatha Christie : The Miss Marple Collection (12 Disc Box Set) [DVD].

4.0 out of 5 stars The UK dvd may be delayed but you can buy the American dvd, 13 Dec 2007
By David - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
I totally agree with other reviewers that the constant change in release dates for Marple Series 3 is very annoying. I have no idea why dvd companies do this. However all is not lost, there is an American dvd which contains all 4 episodes of Marple series 3 available. This item is listed on Amazon and isnt over priced. A word of warning - being an American dvd it is region 1 coded and will on play on such coded players, so please make sure your player is compatable.

The 4 episodes in the series are:-
At Bertrams Hotel which has been shown on UK television. A good episode which has been changed quite alot from the original Agatha Christie novel. The music score is excellent.
Ordeal By Innocence - this novel didn't feature Miss Marple but the adaption is good and Miss Marples inclusion fits in nicely. This story has been shown on UK television.
Towards Zero hasn't been shown on UK television yet so I won't give away any plot details. The story is in my opinion the best in this series and features the great Tom Baker as a guest star.
Nemesis also hasn't been shown yet. The story has been changed quite alot from Agatha Chrisite's novel but is again very enjoyable.

So, all in all this is the best series so far. I have rated this item 4 stars based on the quality of the programme rather than the UK dvd. Don't be put off by the changes to Agatha Christie's classic novels just sit back and enjoy some great drama with a top notch cast.

4.0 out of 5 stars disappointing but not fatal!, 3 Oct 2007
By R. P. Jago - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Whilst I agree with the comments made earlier by the reviewers in terms of their disappointment I think awarding one star is misleading! It suggests the material is of one star quality when clearly this is not the case. Ordeal by Innocence and At Bertrams Hotel were highly entertaining and I am pleased that my favourite Nemesis will now be shown at christmas which is actually a fitting slot for one of the very best of the marple stories!
