I have to admit this volcano movie was a pleasant suprise to me.

I was thinking that i would end up watching a low budget same as any other volcano movie with low budget but i was very wrong...

The short glimpse into the movie is:

A volcanologist and his wife (also a volcanologist) are studying a volcano somewhere (cant remember where... Colombia or something) during an eruption they are saved and brought by helicopter to the village below. As they are trying to escape the wife rescues a child from a burning building, however the ground falls away below her feet and she dies tragically falling into molten lava...

Some time later her husband goes to Italy to the town his late wife grew up in, to learn more about her childhood and recover. There in the shadows of a huge silent mountain he meets a youngish girl who is acting very strangely... painting very odd pictures in a fragile but violent mental state...

Could this have a bearing on the monsterous mountain... Well we all know it does... But the way the film continues and plays out is excellent, the acting is excellent and the camera work and settings scenary wise are amazing and not of a low budget quality...

Seriously, watch this... It is a totally underated movie, which i rate higher than Dantes Peak and VoLcAno...

An easy 5 out of 5!

Hats off to the film for having a very original take on the disaster genre. Involving all kinds of supernatural goings on and much running around following a disturbed girl we are then treated to some impressive effects for a low budget movie. When the disaster is going, the movie really does come alive but the whole supernatural angle drags a little too long when you know what is going to happen and the ending is a tad suspect too. However I have seen MUCH worse disaster movies and I enjoyed myself so I guess it wasn't too bad at all!

I'm a huge fan of disaster movies and have watched most good and bad and unfortunately for me this came under the bad section.
Started off well enough, while trying to escape a volcano eruption the lead character's wife is killed. Appearing to be getting messages from beyond the grave, he then sets off to her home town and encounters a strange young girl who doesn't speak. The villagers are fearful of her as she seems to possess strange powers.
The movie now gets silly as our hero tries to understand the young girls strange drawings and in the meantime the volcano starts rumbling.
I suppose the filmmakers were trying a new slant for disaster movies but it was all too weird for my liking.
The special effects weren't too bad but for the rest well judge for yourself.
