Synopsis

Following up his hit DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR writer-director Danny Leiner has come up with the riotous road-trip comedy HAROLD & KUMAR GET THE MUNCHIES Harold (John Cho) has graduated college and is now working at a cubicle, where he is abused by other workers and forced to do their jobs for them. Kumar (Kal Penn) is expected to go to medical school to follow in the footsteps of his father and brother, but he'd rather spend his time partying. The entire film takes place in one night, as wild Kumar is determined to get a sack of burgers at White Castle, even though his more staid roommate would prefer to stay home and finish a project for his office mates. While Kumar seeks fun and adventure, lusting after nearly every woman he meets, Harold dreams only of Maria (Paula Garces), the woman down the hall whom he likes but is too afraid to talk to. Harold & Kumar's excellent adventure includes an outrageous bathroom scene in a college, a cop who takes his job way too seriously, a group of extreme, rad dudes who harass Harold, Kumar, and a convenience store manager, LAW & ORDER: SVU's Chris Meloni as an incredibly disgusting possible psycho, and Neil Patrick Harris playing himself, making fun of his Doogie Howser image. In addition to plenty of raunchy--and very funny--references to sex, drugs, and rock & roll, Leiner also takes on stereotypes and the meaning of love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior comedy (If you like it silly), 17 Sep 2005
By B. Cornell - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I expected very little from this comedy, but I haven't laughed out loud so much at anything in years. Excellent characters and ridiculous situations make it a lot smarter than it seems. It's got no stars in it, so you know it's not just a vehicle for anyone, but the guy who plays Kumar is hilarious.
I didn't think Dude where's my car was that good, but they've really got it right here. This may be a slow growing classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Comedy, 17 Dec 2006
By Malcolm Clarke (Durham, UK) - See all my reviews
Let's be frank for a moment. Movies reflect your mood, so next time you are in need of a "I wanna feel better about myself and my life" movie then I suggest you stick this on and have a watch.

Unfortunately my Grandfather passed away on the day I saw this movie. I was sitting at home a bit bummed out and my mate turned up to take me to the pictures in town. I REALLY did not want to watch a horror so I went into the cinema and watched this. I was the only person in there! But it was GREAT.

It is basically a laugh-a-minute "walking the path" movie where everything that can happen that is funny does happen. For anyone who likes a good laugh and does not sit there going "I don't like this because that would never happen" this film really is for you. It did not do awesome at the box office but that just means you pay less for the DVD!

John Cho from American pie and Kal Penn from Dude Where's my Car are really good in this film.

OK Stop reading this review now and go buy the film!

5.0 out of 5 stars I;ve got the munchies!!!, 7 Aug 2005
By G. F. Broom "a_legend_in_the_making" (Colchester) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Let me start by saying if you liked Dude where's my car? then you will love this. Both are directed by Danny Leiner, and both follow the same basic pattern. The two main charecters are stoners, they both lose their car at some point, and their both obsessed by food. In Dude, where's my car? the story revolves around them trying to find their car. In this, they go on an epic journey to White Castle, a burger restaurant, to find the ultimate burger. With hilarious consequences along the way. The movie stars the Chinese guy, John Cho, from American Pie, and the Indian guy, Kal Penn, from Van Wilder. Together, they make a great comedy double, with some hilarious lines. The story is brilliantly written and directed, and the actors gel supperbly. Also on the DVD are hilariuos extra, which make the DVD even more worth your hard earned cash. Extras include Audio commentaries, Deleted scenes, Outtakes, and some great featurettes.
Overall, a great comedy, with loads of laughs. 9/10

Funny film. Takes the Cheech and Chong essence and blends with the current American Pie / Road trip gross out humour. I wouldn't be suprised if a follow up is made.
