Ok, so first of all I am from Naples (Italy), you know..where the pizza comes from and I am very obsessed about making the best pizza I can at home.

Let me start by saying that I have already owned two of these pizza stones. One broke after a month or so and then Amazon kindly replaced it right away. The second one also broke again after 2 weeks... BUT, I just want to tell you now that even if it breaks in 2 parts you can still use it and here's why.

Some people make their own pizza stones by buying 4 unglazed tiles and put them together one next to the other in the oven (and so with a tiny gap between each other) and that works perfectly. So I thought, why can't I do that with my now broken pizza stone?
So I just kind of "re-assembled" the 2 pieces together, just literally put them one next to each other in my oven on the grid (as if you were making a puzzle with those two pieces) and boom! It worked like a charm. I still get the same exact results and I'm not bothered anymore.

Bottom line, buy this pizza stone or any other for that matter and if it breaks don't cry, just keep using it as it's still functional :).

The only thing you need to be careful about is that when you place your pizza on the stone using your pizza peeler (you are using a pizza peeler, right? If not go buy one NOW as it's absolutely necessary to use it with the pizza stone!!!), just be careful not to accidentally pierce the pizza. Sometimes at first it happened to me that when I was taking the pizza out I accidentally pinched it and pierced it by pushing it to hardly against the hard edges that are now on the gap of the stone. But with a little practice I don't do that anymore as I gently lift the pizza with the peel before sliding it under.

I bought this to make Naan bread at home, in spite of some of the negative reviews. I guessed that the people concerned simply misused the item and did not heat up the stone along with the oven.
Well, it did work really well for 3 or 4 uses, made great Naan bread. The stone helps achieve from an ordinary oven the high temperature needed for Naans etc. Then the stone split in two in the oven during use, just outside the one month return period.

Update. I bought this from Amazon itself (as opposed to from another supplier via Amazon). Amazon immediately replaced the item free of charge. Good to bear in mind when you have the choice of several suppliers for a given item. I therefore increased the rating from two to three stars. However, that still does not change the problem with the stone. Is there a more robust version out there?

tired of soggy bottomed pizzas I hoped this would be the solution to restaurant quality crispy pizzas at home. Its my new toy and it does work well, but the stone does have to be piping hot when you put the dough on it. If you let the stone cool down too much the dough will stick and you will have to scrape it off. I notice some reviewers said their oven did not get hot enough. Our oven is a cheapo one with no fan or anything, the 'max' setting on the dial appears to be something above 250c, possibly 300c, and it works fine, provided you do get the stone really hot. The only drawback I can see to it is that obviously you have to handle the hot stone with oven gloves, but well, thats the nature of cooking, unless you just eat salad. Also once you have used it a few times it will look very 'seasoned' ie stained, but its a cooking stone, thats what its going to look like! And it does make nice pizza. (or rather you make nice pizza, its just a hot stone). Happy cooking!

Excellent service and delivery.
Excellent product. The stone needs 240C to harden the stone , then 180-200C is plenty for cooking, which is very quick. about 15 -20mins, the result was a very nice even crisp base ..excellent.... Even 'Jamie' would approve!

This is the perfect way to cook pizza. Put the oven up high, put the stone in to warm up. Take it out, put the pizza on, put it back in for 10-15 minutes, and you get a gorgeous crispy base that you just don't get with baking trays.

I had never even realised there was such a thing as a pizza stone, so was very excited to find these during my search for a pizza tray!
I must admit that the first pizza we had from it was a little soggy in the middle, but I'll just chalk that down to inexperience as the next two were far crispier. Overall pleased and looking forward to using it again.

If you like your pizzas evenly cooked and kept warm whilst you eat them then but this. No more to say!

Note that you have to 'pre-bake' the stone at 240c though and are only supposed to scrape it clean (not wash it).

I bought this as a present for my mother. She can be quite hard to buy for and my other half didn't agree that this was the ideal present. In the last month my mother has made three pizzas from fresh and assures me that they're the best that she's ever made (really raving about it). On that note, and being a fresh pizza maker myself, I'm finding it hard to resist buying for me.
