Not the most appropriate introduction to the music of Andy Partridge, and not for the casual XTC fan, but well worth it for those who know what to expect from a man whose demos are usually as highly produced as the final versions. Highlights from this volume: "I Don't Want To Be Here", unfortunately left off Wasp Star, "Everything'll Be Alright", from Andy's ill-fated James and the Giant Peach soundtrack, and "Ship Trapped in the Ice", about XTC's travails with Virgin Records. Even if you already have many of these tracks on the various boots floating around out there, it is almost worth purchasing this disc solely to get your hands on "I Don't Want To Be Here", which isn't in fact the demo version but rather one done in the studio with Colin on bass and second vocals!

Only someone as talented as Andy Partridge, XTC's expert songwriter could get away with releasing his outakes. Don't be put off however, these are no boot sale rejects. The Fuzzy Warbles series give a unique insight into this countrys finest pop word/tunesmith's songwriting methods. Some tracks are rough and unfinished, others such as "I Dont Want To Be Here" are highly polished gems. There are some extra curiosities too, like Andy's Bob Marley style telephone answer message "No One Here Available", so good i've got it on my phone!

Volume 2 is the best in the Fuzzy Warbles series to date (ten volumes to come in all!)
