In these earlier recordings of Gardiner and Co, one can immediately spot the soundworld and style that will become typical of this great Bach performer. Of particular mention is BWV118 which can so very occasionally be overlooked - here it is paired with Bach's orchestration of a motet (Tristis est anima mea) by Kuhnau (his predecessor at Leipzig) - Der gerechte kommt un.

Heartily recommended for those with more than a passing interest.
