5.0 out of 5 stars Very simple but very good, 20 Mar 2004
Having studied Tai Chi since the late 1970's and having taught it since the mid 90's (www.p-k-j.org), I was a bit sceptical and didn't think that this book would have anything new or worthwhile in it... I was wrong.

Graham and Lorraine have put together a simple and elegant eight move Tai Chi form that I now both practice and teach. All the moves in the 8 form are taken from the 24 move short form which was created in 1956 in China and thus it is both a good introduction to the 24 and also a novel extra practice form for students already familiar with the 24.

The great thing about their 8 form is that it takes virtually no space to practice so can be done at home, at work, in a hotel, even in a lift... Anywhere.

The book is clear and easy to read and the DVD is simple to follow and quite well produced.

It is simply excellent value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction, 11 Aug 2005
By The Fisher Price King "Straight from the gut" (London) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This is a simple introduction to tai chi, aimed at the pure beginner. It provides a step by step routine which can easily be performed at home. There are plenty of clear illustrations, and the text is also very straightforward. There is a 40-minute accompanying DVD. Overall this is a good value introduction, presenting a simplified but accurate form of tai chi.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction, 22 Jan 2007
This DVD is a good t'ai chi introduction. The two instructors demonstrate the form against a clear, uncluttered background and then repeat the various postures and motions slowly, with commentary, so that you can easily follow them while watching. It's presented in a friendly, common-sense way.

The accompanying book consists almost entirely of textual descriptions and photographs of the parts of the form, which don't seem very necessary given the presence of the DVD. Some simplified diagrams of the motions might have made things clearer than the photographs.
