Format: Paperback
After a scandal ruined her teaching career and reputation in New York, Elizabeth Scott is hopping across the pond with the love of her life – her beautiful dog Bliss. And caring for a pack of show dogs in England seems like the perfect way of forgetting about everything else. but what she doesn’t count on is meeting and an irresistible attraction to billionaire dog breeder Donovan Darcy. Both sexy and arrogant, sparks fly between them and the chemistry between them is increasing.

I particularly enjoyed the fact that essentially this is the original story that we all know and dearly love, but Teri Wilson has done a particularly fantastic job of adding elements and new exciting things to give the story a fresh and intriguing spin on the classic. As someone who has loved and owned dogs for all of my life, I was thrilled to see that dogs played an important part in this, and so I was delighted about this. I’ve never read a book with a dog show aspect and so for me this was really refreshing and unique. I LOVED Bliss the dog so much!

Donovan and Elizabeth were fantastically written, I really liked them and believed in them, and Teri Wilson had me rooting for them all the way through! Elizabeth was a strong woman and I liked her personality. Donovan…swoon! He was handsome, successful and a very good catch!

Unleashing Mr Darcy is a BRILLIANT and thoroughly enjoyable book! I laughed, I swooned and I was left delighted by everything I had read! Unleashing Mr Darcy is a wonderful novel to relax with!

It is a modern homage to Pride and Prejudice, albeit with a sense of fun and smidgen of modern-day relationship problems.

I enjoyed the lighthearted banter and the attempt to recreate the essence of the story without filling the it with too many predictable sub-plots. In that sense the whole dog competition angle was perhaps completely unexpected, but also exactly the right way to make it fresh and modern.

Donovan is a typical wealthy bachelor and part of the upper crust of British society. When Elizabeth first meets him he comes across as snooty and elitist, despite the fact he is as cute as a button. Okay, make that handsome and debonair.

One thing that didn't quite gel right for me was the fact that the upper class British do not go around calling each other mate nor do they use the term love in the way it is used in this book. In certain areas the terms pet , love and mate are informal ways of addressing people, there does not have to be a prior relationship between the people using them. It made the dialogue between the upper members of society seem unrealistic, especially when the whole difference of level of class was part of the plot.

Overall it was a fun read and respectful easy-going adaptation of a classic,
I received a copy of this book courtesy of Harlequin UK and Mira UK.

In this modern day take on Pride Prejudice, we not only get to see some of our favourite character recreated but we also get to share the story with our favourite furry friends.

We start the story in America, Elizabeth Scott a private school teacher is made to take 2 weeks holiday.
Elizabeth has a passion for dogs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in particular. Whilst finding ways to keep her occupied she decides to take her spaniel Bliss to a dog show,
Whilst there she is introduced to Sue, who offers to change Elizabeth's life forever.
Forget going back to school, Elizabeth is crossing the pond to train dogs.
But could there also be romance on the cards...

Elizabeth and Donovan are wonderfully strong willed characters and definitely made the story worth reading,
There's also siblings David and Helena, who despite sharing a name are nothing alike. David is kind and considerate, where as Helena is is cold and calculating!

What I enjoyed about this story is that it has everything we know and love from the original but also adds to it, by introducing dogs into the mix.
A fun and endearing take on a classic.
