Product Description

Product Description

On a shimmeringly hot Sunday in May, the Delaneys opened their pool to all the village for charity. Louise was there, so were her daughters Amelia and Katie - and so, glaring at her resentfully, was her estranged husband Barnaby. This was supposed to be his day with the girls. But Louise ignored his angry glowers - it wasn't her fault they'd wanted to come swimming with her, was it? While the children splashed and shrieked in the cool, blue waters, she lay blissfully back in the sun and dreamed of Cassian, the charismatic new lawyer in her life. The day seemed perfect. But, suddenly the perfect day was shattered, as tragedy struck. And the consequences of a terrible accident developed into a drama of recriminations, jealousy and legal power-play, in which Louise found herself pulled in three directions all at once. Friendships crumbled, the village was split, and the needs of a child became secondary to the dangerous contest in which the grown-ups were engaged.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable read, 24 Sep 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Swimming Pool Sunday (Paperback)
This was the first book by Madeleine Whickham that I had read, having enjoyed all of her books under her pen-name of Sophie Kinsella. I wasn't disappointed and found it absorbing and the characters believable. I'm definitely going to read more of her books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Takes a long time to get into the story ..., 14 Aug 2007
This review is from: Swimming Pool Sunday (Paperback)
Practically nothing happens during the first seventy pages ... I nearly gave up! Fortunately something happens to add interest (I won't tell you what!) and the book gets going ...

4.0 out of 5 stars A relaxing easy read, 19 Jan 2005
This review is from: Swimming Pool Sunday (Paperback)
This is the first of Madeleine's books I have read, although I have read her other books under the writer of Sophie Kinsella.

Did not really know what to expect, but quickly became engrossed in Swimming Pool Sunday, which is set in an country village. Reminded me a bit of Midsomer Murders but without the murder, kept me turning the page and wanting to find out what happens in the end. Really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading many more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good holiday reading
Although I didn't enjoy this book as much as 'The Gatecrasher' it was still a very easy and enjoyable read. I am now going to read 'A desirable Residence'
