The Regeneration of Public Parks is a co-publication with the Landscape Design Trust and the Garden History Society. This book highlights the new enthusiasm for Britains public parks and provides a valuable overview of public park design, sustainability, management and regeneration. It will be essential to all those involved with or interested in public parks, ranging from local community groups and local authority officers to landscape professionals and managers of parks and gardens. The expanding interest in public parks in the UK has been encouraged by the grants of the Heritage Lottery Fund (Urban Parks Programme), but the renaissance is an international phenomenon, fired by general concerns about the urban environment.
The book has been prepared by a team of experts involved with, and responsible for public parks; all are specialists in their fields. The first part of the book deals with general issues relating to public parks, while the second part relates to specific design elements within public parks.
