Sandra Brown was 8 when a 12 yr old neighbour, Moira anderson, disappeared from the small town of coatbridge near glasgow in 1957. Moira has never been seen since. 27 yrs later at a family funeral, sandras estranged father confessed to her that he had been involved in the girls disappearance. Appauled and fasinated by his curious half confession, sandra decided to delve into the case and is so doing discovered that her father was an acknowledged molester of children whose activities were known not just to everyone in coatbridge but also to the police. The horrifying jigsaw she pieced together, along with the admissions for her father made, ultimatly convinced Sandra that he had indeed been responsible for moiras disappearance over 40 yrs ago. Child abuse is one of the most crucial and appaling issues of our times and this extraordinary, personal story goes to the very heart of the debate. Harrowing but ultimately redemtive. Where there is evil is a remarkable book and one which cannot fail to touch all those who read it.
