1.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!, 25 May 2008
By Lorna Singer (Midlands, UK) - See all my reviews
For a "Times" publication, they should be ashamed of themselves! This is poorly laid out, and not good enough on the detail.

Firstly, the maps themselves are set out in alphabetical order: Australia comes first, then...New Zealand!!! then Antarctica, then...Eastern Russian federation!!

Europe (which, to be honest, is likely to be the most-often referred to area from the UK) is half-way through the book. But then, Belgium, Netherlands AND northern Germany are all squeezed onto a double-page spread. France, huge country that it is, is crammed into a single page. The result is that there is not nearly enough detail for even minor research.

This book will please neither a UK-centric vew of the globe, nor yet an American (north or south) one

Save your money and invest in a better world atlas!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for a small atlas, 6 Jun 2009
By Paul Ell (NI, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This small atlas builds on the reputation of the series of Times Atlases. It is small, and as a result portable. As a professional geographer I own a range of the Times' series and to travel with this is my favorite choice. The maps are clear, concise, with good projections. This issue is in need of an update which I guess will follow soon.

This is not a reference atlas. Buy the Comprehensive edition for that, although the new Times Universal Atlas is pretty good. The previous reviewer wants excellent detailed maps in a small cheap format. Forget this.
