I did a lot of research before buying this as to which type was best and also for pricing. I bought this in the 24" size for our labradoodle puppy. This item costs 3 x the price in pets @ home so amazons reduced price was a great deal! We picked our puppy up a day early so it hadn't arrived but puppy managed to tip the big plastic box over somehow so no sleep untill the crate arrived. I always thought these looked cruel but all the research i read said they are really best for puppy. I was so glad I didn't buy the book I saw about how to get puppy in, because as soon as I put her fleecy mat in she climbed right in! At night we close it & put a blanket over it (A bit like a budgie!!!. She had a couple of little whimpers which I had to force my hubby to ignore (Its hard but you don't want puppy to learn that crying makes you come!)and since then she just goes to sleep and stays asleep all night long!!! Amazing! We bring it down every day and when she wants a rest or to escape the kids she just goes right in. The kids know that if she's in there they have to leave her alone. Great item, but be aware that our labradoodle (supposedly miniature!) is only 16 weeks old and has grown out of it!!! (But if you buy the one thats too big it gives room for a bedroom area & a toilet area which you don't want! (Dogs won't pee in there own bed)). Even though I had to buy a bigger one it still costs less on Amazon for two than at pets @ home for one, so still a great deal.

I have seen a very similar product for almost £50 elsewhere. This is a bargain -I can't fault the construction, it keeps the dog in, and the cats out. Very solid and folds down easily for storage. We like it, and so does the dog. :-)
Update Feb 27th 2011. I have just bought another of these -to live at my mother-in-law's house when she is dog-sitting overnight for us. Home from home for our bundle of mischief. After 7 months or so I remain very pleased with the original purchase -faultless. Update March 2011 The cage has now been away on a short holiday with us -perfect to transport, and stood up to being stood on by other luggage in the car. Easy to set up and take down several times. With this cage you could run your own poochy circus! AA

Purchased this for our new pup to sleep at night and protect the furniture. Very pleased with it, easy to set up, the removable tray makes cleaning simple and its sturdy enough. Great product and so much cheaper than the one's in the pet shops.
Would recommend this to anyone with a small dog. ****
