Peter M said "if it looks like you can go there, you can". Staight lie, at the very begining there are hundreds of house roofs (when you look at the castle) and there is no way to get to them, they just make bowerstone look bigger than it is.

This is true if you want to be pedantic about things. Each spell has 5 different levels and 2 versions at each level (targeted and area of effect). So technically there are 10 varieties of each spell.
Peter M is well know to massivley overhype and overexagerate every game he's ever been involved with, if you don't know this by now then there's no help for you. Doesn't stop the game being bloody good though.
I have personally expected to have larger cities to explore, and by the look of the screenshots and cut scenes you can see that Bowestone is quite a vast city, you are however restricted to only a small part of it.
