Yes indeedy - all cables are included. It can be plugged a) Into the mains to get the amplifier working and b) into the TV aerial plug. I use it to get Freeview on the TV in my kitchen in North London and it works fine. You sometimes have to rotate it round slightly or raise it a bit (I've got mine perched on a tall wide candle...)

You can get freeview. Never tried HD channels, just standard. You need a bit of patients too, you can get all channels eventually by setting aerial in a precise position and not move again.

It doesn't seem to matter, we have taken it off but but noticed no difference either way. It is only a protective cover, like you get on the front of a phone.
