I live in an old house, with thick walls and a 'rambling' layout, and always had great difficulty in getting my wireless internet signal from one end of the house (where the master phone socket was) to the other (where my computer lives). So my wireless internet ended up with wires and aerials all over the place, which was hardly the idea...Anyway, I thought I'd see if the Devolo Homeplug was any better, and it is! I wish I had never bothered with wireless, as the blue plugs were easy to set up and worked straight away with no problems at all. I am amazed how few people use this technology, as it works perfectly, with a far greater range than wireless ever managed. I would recommend this kit as the perfect 'idiot proof' solution to creating a home network.

I'd tried wireless twice and both times it would work for a day or so and then be useless as the signal had to travel through several amplifiers and guitars upstairs. I had virtually given up on the idea until I read about these. With not a lot of confidence I bought them (and a Netgear wired Router) and thought "here goes nothing". I couldn't believe how easy it was! The router installed itself in five clicks, including getting all the ISP information itself, and as soon as I plugged in the Devolo devices the two computers were online instantly. And the best part is because of the router the host machine doesn't have to be on for the other computer to work. I would highly recommend these to anyone - I have Telewest Blueyonder cable internet and the speed is barely affected. Ten out of Ten for Devolo.

Unpacked, plugged in, one on PC and one on wireless router -loaded software on PC (had to find serial numbers of each socket so do this first in case you don't have easy access to look, i.e. behind desk in corner of room, like mine were. Anyway once both serial numbers were recognised by the software and I rebooted PC, it all worked. Took about 20 mins in total. It looks like you just add more plugs as and when necessary. I have a house which is longer than normal and one socket is at one end, the other as far away as possible - its works fan dabba douzy - really pleased will be purchasing another two when I have saved up.
