1.0 out of 5 stars Product not as described, poor customer service 20 Dec 2012
Size Name:Flash Cord Cable for Canon|Verified Purchase
Never before I have come across a seller so stern and unhelpful as these people at ATekCity.
I needed a cord extending easily up to 3 meters as described in the product information. I wish I’d taken seriously what another seller had mentioned about the maximum length being only 1.5 meters.
When pointed out to the seller, they refused to accept and remained adamant that the cord was easily extendable to 3 meters. Yes, it extends up to 3 meters provided two very muscular people hold the camera and the flash. This much force can easily pull off the top half of your camera or bottom half of the flash unit!
Well, a couple of emails later they asked to send pictures as a proof showing me pulling the cord to its maximum length, which I did with the cord next to the tape measure stopping at 210 cm. They accepted to refund but within minutes, another email came showing someone with intensely taut cord turned around on itself and barely reaching 150 cm mark.
I agree that for longer distances, there are alternatives available but they are expensive gadgets for professional photographers. The point is that the seller is advertising this product as 3 meter extension cable which is dishonest and misleading. Adding insult to injury is the customer services attitude.
I didn’t return it as I don’t trust these people anymore. Not being judgmental, I fear that after returning the product, I will not get my money back.

This extension cord works well as a replacement to the official Canon Off-Camera Shoe Cord OC-E3 that costs 5 times as much. It's well made and rugged enough to give you confidence it won't fall apart anytime soon.

The main point to note is the cord's unstretched length might be dead on at 60 cms, but stretched there's no way this cord will reach 3 metres and that's probably a good thing as it's intended to be used just off camera. Having loads of excess cord would just be very irksome though of course this depends on what you envisage your use to be.

It'll go as far as 1 metre without too much of a stretch but 1.5 metres is about the maximum and even at 1 metre you're going to have to have a heavy & solid mounting point for your flash so the cord doesn't just pull it back at you. Hence, its primary purpose is to be used in conjunction with a bracket, to get the flash off the immediate top of the camera's and away from the point above the lens for reducing red eye and finding a better angle to try and avoid nasty harsh shadows.

Instead of the Canon Speedlite L Bracket SB-E2, I've ordered the rather unfortunately named Cowboystudio Heavy Duty Camera L bracket so will provide an update. You'll need a hot shoe flash to 1/4" tripod mount adapter of some kind, like the Kaavie Dual Nuts Hot Shoe 1/4" Screw Adapter.

good stuff, does the job, exactly as it says on the tin, dont see reason why people should buy something more expensive, will not regret any one who looking forwards to get it
have been using this for a while not very happy noticed that it faults... flash is not working all the times with this cord, might be I got a bad copy of it,although flash it self on a hot shoe working just fine it is very annoying when you are chasing a moment in a dark and it suddenly stops working gets me very frustrating...oh if I only speared a few quid more to get more decent stuff...

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Flashlght 19 May 2014
Size Name:Flash Speedlite|Verified Purchase
Came very quickly but to be fair it was bundled with a new camera and I had paid extra for quick delivery on a Saturday. The product however is superb for the price. The ability to control the strength of the flash. Coming with diffusers. I really can't fault it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than AA batteries
For the money you can't go wrong, if it had two ports to power to flashes it would get 5 stars. To be fair I need to use this product more to see how good it really is
