Using the usb I linked the tablet to my computer where it sees two drives but when I click on the drives in order that I can transfer files it freezes recognition. Has anyone had a similar experience? I can using a card reader transfer files across but as the physical loading of the card into the tablet is a tricky process I would rather do it via usb connection. Thanks mart492.
Go into Settings and then go to Developer options and make sure that USB debugging is unchecked. Also ensure that when you connect the tablet to pc that you click the option on the tablet that should appear saying Enable USB Storage.
Thanks Paul Did as you said and computer now recognizes files and I can now drag and drop files between PC and tablet. Excellent, it's great that people like yourself take the time and trouble to help others.
Having said that I don't suppose your an expert on flashing - If that's the correct terminology? I brought 2 of these tablets both of them worked when they arrived. Now one of them gets stuck on the green android man or occasionally on the word android (next stage). I emailed the company (not Amazon) and they say they will reply in 48 hours. I'm guessing flashing is like loading a new operating system? I'm not keen to send the tablet back as the company is in China and besides the fact it doesn't work I'm pleased with it - not that that makes sense I know. The one that works is excellent value.
I have "flashed" many times....in a manner of speaking! Before considering flashing you may want to try doing a reset by pushing a pin in the reset hole on the back. There may be another hole marked as reset near the HDMI socket, this is actually used when flashing and not a proper reset hole as such. Also try doing a long shutdown by pressing the power button and holding it down for 30 seconds or so before then turning back on again. Only after all that fails should you consider re-flashing and then you may have to come back for more advice or at least read some of the other threads to find out how to do it. Maybe Rob H has some ideas to help you as he's usually very knowledgeable with problems like this. I'm sure he'll be along at some stage.
Hello, Do you know if the non working one is the LY-F1. All black model, 8gb sticker, 2 speaker grills. May or may not have a small hole labelled reset on the back but definately has a hole next to the mini hdmi socket on the side.
The model has all of those things the LY-F1 has so I think that's what it has to be.It has a reset button next to the hdmi socket but a prod with a thick needle did nothing though to be honest its a little like a black hole that you don't know if you actually connect but I think I did enough to know that's not the cure. I am now having to email the company again as they haven't got back to me though a flashing looks on the cards so if anyone knows enough to advise I would appreciate it. Thanks.
The button next to the hdmi is used for flashing its not for resetting the tab. When I get home later i'll point you in the right direction for flashing unless somebody else wants to jump in and help you
Flashing takes a fair bit of explanation and there are threads on here explaining the process. The suggestion of connecting to your PC and pressing reset forms part of the process. Essentially you will use some flashing software either phoenix or livesuit along with a ROM image i.e. the operating system in a big file. You run the flashing software, point it at the image then connect your tablet to the pc with a weird and wonderful combination of pressing buttons and keep your fingers crossed and hope the flashing software recognises your tablet and starts to download the image to it. Then you need to run something called the market fix to get google play to allow you more extensive access to apps that you wouldnt normally see withoit the fix. Sorry im not more specific but detailed instructions are lengthy and a search around these discussions will give you what you need.
and there are solutions to potential problems that you may encounter. Just make sure you use the firmware i pointed you to earlier whenever firmware or ROM is mentioned. The ones in this thread are out of date.
Im busy tonight but i'll check in on this thread to see how your getting on over the next few days.
I might need to be braver than I thought. I went to thread as directed but nothing precise enough. I was looking for instruction as to what to do with those two files. I did connect the tablet to the PC with a hope it might wake it up but it wouldn't recognise the driver (I am running windows 7 64 bit version) - so is that a problem? I did open those 2 files to see what they might be - one it wanted to burn to disc and the other it didn't recognise so I wasn't a lot wiser. I will continue to search sites but would appreciate any help you have.
