Product Description

Product Description

An unputdownable thriller. Sam Tennant has been brutally murdered in an online computer game. What's worse, it looks like his killers are out to get him in real life too. `The Emperor' and `Ollyg78' say they know him from school, and soon turn his classmates against him with their vindictive website. With his father away, his child-psychiatrist mother preoccupied with a particularly difficult case, and his dying granddad absorbed in some dark, wartime secrets of his own, Sam's only support comes from terminally shy Abby and Stephen the class nerd. As their threats become more sinister, Sam faces a desperate struggle to identify his persecutors before it really gets deadly.

From the Publisher

An absorbing, fast-paced thriller which has a modern technological theme - cyberbullying.
Will keep even reluctant readers hooked.
Thought-provoking book which covers many serious issues in a very accessible way.

excellent book 3 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
I read this within 2 days and on the second day couldn't put it down. It was a great read and as an older reader (nearly 50!) it gave me a really good insight into the language and some of the ways of thinking of the young. I really liked the historical detail of the war on ships and the way in which the book dealt with bullying from the prespective of a young person. Definitely worth buying and reading.

Got me 3 Dec 2010
By Gordon
Format:Paperback
I bought this book as a present for my 12 year old nephew, and thought I would read a few pages myself. I couldn't put it down and I know that my nephew really enjoyed it too.I loved the way the World War 2 reminiscences of the grandfather are skillfully intertwined with the current day plight of the year 8 victim of cyber-bullies.The characters are very believable and I couldn't help but think of my own father as the old man's story unfolded. My nephew found the description of life in the early years of secondary school to be very realistic, and he was quite gripped by the storyline. Overall we were both really impressed and would recommend it to anyone between 11 and 14, but suspect some of their parents might enjoy it too.

Having been a great admirer of Simon Packham's first published novel, "The Opposite Bastard", I was intrigued to see that he has now written a book for a younger audience, "Comin 2 gt u". I read it in one sitting, finding that I couldn't put it down!
For me it had uncomfortable resonances of experiences at the hands of school bullies during my own youth; but, despite the dark subject matter, it is a witty and entertaining book; and it reminds those of us who have been bullied that we ourselves may have been part-time bullies, too.
The sections concerning the schoolboy main character Samuel's grandfather which run through the book complement the storyline, rather than being a tiresome distraction from it.
This book should be included, as a matter of urgency, on reading lists for secondary school pupils.
