on clockwork angel theres a copy coming out 9th june. how come its got 400 pages instead of 496? how is it different?

what age group are these meant for, I have an extremely bright 11year old neice who is an avid reader and who is tiring of Jaqueline Wilson, would these be suitable? Wendy
