Product Description

Product Description

A great collection of puzzles to take and enjoy anywhere in the world - have fun, challenge yourself, and become a better chess player!

This is the first book in a series designed specifically for eBook readers and tablets, so it contains large, clear diagrams, and can be read without the need for a chess board. Download a sample to see!

Each puzzle has a page for the puzzle and a separate page for the solution, accompanied by a description that explains the tactics being used. Most puzzles are one to four moves in length. After finishing this book you will hopefully find yourself looking for checkmate possibilities more frequently, and recognising some of the patterns of positions in which they occur.

This book has been published in support of a Kickstarter campaign:

Enjoy!

A neat collection of 21 checkmate puzzles carefully put together and presented with a concise explanation for each.

This type of puzzle is well suited to the kindle. Each board is clearly presented to the reader with a single line of text indicating who is to move. 'Turning' the page reveals the same board with the solution moves (algebraic) and a small paragraph breaking down the solution. After the first 2 puzzles the author introduces himself and the book.

I found these puzzles very interesting as a beginner looking to improve my game - My instincts on many of the puzzles would have been to play to capture opponent pieces where in reality a mate was only a couple of moves away. My only slightly (and it is slight) negative comment would be that I would like to have seen the explanation for each puzzle include reasons why alternative moves would be less appropriate than the published solution.

For less than £1 it is well worth the downgrade of a Mocha to an Americano to pick up.

I am trying to learn chess on my own. This book is simple and straight forward. I did not see any other Chess hobby ebooks on Amazon, but I will look on the websites listed in the book.
