LOTS OF THINGS HAVE BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT PETE BEST'S DEPARTURE FROM THE BEATLES,IT WAS A SAD TIME FOR PETE,BUT IT GAVE HIM THE MOTIVATION TO GO OUT AND GET A BAND TOGETHER.IN 1965 PETE BEST'S COMBO WENT TO AMERICA WITH THE UNDERTAKERS ANOTHER MERSEYBEAT GROUP AND RECORDED AN ALBUM AT TALENTMASTERS STUDIOS AT 126 WEST 42ND STREET WITH THE HELP OF THE UNDERTAKERS ALSO PLAYING ON THIS ALBUM. THE ALBUM WAS CALLED " BEST OF THE BEATLES" THE PRODUCER WAS THE FAMOUS BOB GALLO,WHO WORKED WITH MANY ATLANTIC ARTISTS LATER ON LIKE THE DRIFTERS,SOLOMON BURKE,.THIS ALBUM AT THE CASBAH COFFEE BAR WAS RECORDED IN LIVERPOOL AND PRODUCED BY BILLY KINSLEY OF THE MERSEYBEATS AND LIVERPOOL EXPRESS FAME.THIS IS A GREAT COLLECTION OF ROCK N ROLL SONGS THAT WERE ON THE JUKE BOX IN THE CASBAH IN LIVERPOOL WERE THE BEATLES FIRST STARTED ALL THOSE YEARS AGO.I PERSONALY HAD THE PLEASURE TO PLAY SAXOPHONE ON A FEW OF THE SONGS ON THIS ALBUM.TRACKS INCLUDE RED RIVER ROCK,BE BOP A LULA,SWEET LITTLE SIXTEEN,NEW ORLEANS,THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT,DIANA,SEA CRUISE AND MANY MORE.THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM TO DANCE TO AS WELL AS LISTEN.BRIAN JONES/ SAXOPHONIST.

Best "Beatles" retrorock 25 April 2001
By Robert E VandenHeuvel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This cd-along with "live at the Adelphi" presents Pete Bests band performing a number of 60's standards live. The music is a fine trip down memory lane--or a good introduction to music from that era if it's new to you. Pete and his brother both play drums-so it's never quite clear which one you're hearing--so what? Is Pete a better drummer than Ringo? I don't know-they're both better drummers than me!!! (About the only way to clearly here Pete Best on the drum is on the Tony Sheridan/Beatles album or on the Decca audition tapes--on each of these-his drumming sounds fine to me) Actually, just listen to this for what it is--a good live performace of some great old songs.

A Pleasant Suprise 25 May 2002
By "prattf2" - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is the disc to get if you want Pete. After hearing the Decca tapes, Tony Sheridan Recordings, bootleg BBC tracks, one Cavern track backing Gene Vincent, Interviews, Anthology 1, Lee Curtis & The All Stars, and Pete Best Four/Combo tracks/albums, I wanted to hear something new and fresh (and professionally mixed)! The live C.D. Back To The Beat was so-so but this one was a pleasant suprise. The track that stands out to me was Sweet Nothings. Everyone I know that likes the 60's-70's Rock, Blues Rock type of genre was into this song. I picked up this C.D. in Manhattan when I met Pete and Roag at a collectors show. Good disc! Well worth the price!

Average Recording 25 Nov. 2007

The Pete Best Band is definitely ALLOT better than what this recording sounds like! It's rather ECHOy for lack of a better word.

it sounds Ok but the echoing is on the annoying side.

I can Honestly say they sounded really Fab in the Winchester Club in Lakewood a month and a half ago.

If you are debating bout seeing the band from this recording DONT~
Go See them!!!!!!!!!
They are Allot of FUN!
and really good!
I told Pete it was a Great show! I knew I'd enjoy it I like the Beatles from 64 on back. But I really didn't expect to have that much fun!
Was Up dancing with some of the other folks on the side for Twist & Shout.

Pete asked if I'd come again!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wish that the CD sounded as good as they did in person!
