I haven't personally had a need to reset the steering light. But I have set two other warning lights - errors which were faulty and DPF sensors and NOT the brakes or DPF filter. When these two faults occurred, I phone my local VW dealer and gave them the fault code, they ordered the parts and said it was safe to drive - I just needed to reset the lights a couple of time.
I can see no problem why you could not reset any warning lights, but if it is a steering one, I would strongly recommend contacting a dealer as well.
If does seem that these days, the sensors are likely to be at fault, but better to be safe.
No this one just gives you the fault codes only.
Yes You can, if you have rectified the fault it will stay off, but this also interigates the fault it's not a bad gizmo for the price. Their are better ones but they cost considerably more.
