The definitive book on Art Deco Ceramics. Great photographs & write ups on the leading designers / potters such as Clarice
Cliff, Suzy Cooper & all the companies, large & small, involved in ceramics at that time.

Excellent source book for collectors of British Art Deco Ceramics 10 April 2014

Antique Collector's Club really delivers with this book.. The writing is such that the book is perfect for both the novice as well as the established collector. The book contains many color photographs of specific pieces of ceramics identifying both by artist who created as well as factory who produced the item.

In this reviewer's opinion a nice added touch is that the book also provides many examples of the ads that were put in magazines and newspapers for the items when the ceramics were first produced for sale.

The book provides a through examination of what is Art Deco and how it developed in France and follows the artistic movement into the British pottery industry.

The book is divided into parts

PART 1 ------ "An Introduction" Which includes the following topics "On the European Background", "The British Background", "New Ceramics for the New Way of Living" , " The Real of Imposters, and "Modern Art for the Table".

PART 2 -------" Established Factories" -- which cover Wedgwood, Spode, Minton, Doulton Art Deco, and Moorcroft.

PART 3 -------- "The Smaller Pottery Companies " ----- This section covers 19 of the smaller factories including Shelley, Carter,, Stabler, and Adams, Susie Cooper, Crown Devon, Mycott pottery and others.

PART 4 ---------" Less Well-Known Manufacturers" This section is well organized and provides at least a paragraph concerning these lesser known factories with color illustrations where examples were available. The lesser known manufacturers cover pages 227 to 251.

The book focuses on the Art Deco Ceramics which were produced by the British pottery industry during the late 1920s into the early 1930s.
