A must have for any thinking teenage (or older) young woman, full of valuable, fun and thought provoking articles, pictures, playlists and features. Super-blogger Tavi Gevinson has gathered a fantastic selection of writers, illustrators and photographers - many who are teenagers themselves - giving a refreshingly positive angle on the challenges and rewards of being young and female. Masses of content to entertain and absorb, provoke and stimulate for many hours. (Stickers and other goodies too!) A great gift!

I'm so glad that Rookie has been made into a book and now it's possible for us to own the magic! I am 22 and still absolutely love Rookie, you can be of any age to enjoy this book and I really wish that Rookie had been available to me when I was a teenager. For anyone who feels misunderstood, different, lonely, like they don't fit in, like they were destined for more or don't know what they were destined for, Rookie helps with all of that and more; it is the most positive role model a teenage girl could ask for.

I'm 21 and still love Rookie. This book is put together so beautifully and has the right amount of articles to photos. It says just the right things for teenagers or adults. It's such a stunning book and would make a brilliant gift

I saw a picture of Rookie some years ago ii a book called "style yourself" , a small girl wearing a paper box as a hat, very original and fresh and I forgot all about her, until two weeks ago when out of the blue, this picture came to my head again. I have written "Rookie" on Google and the blog Rookie stylist appeared with an advertisement of the yearbook at the very begining. I ordered the first and second yearbook after browsing for ten seconds in each one of them on Amazon. I have received them two days ago. Superb. My fashion bible is something written during the 60s, the book " a guide to Elegance" by m. Dariaux, a strict and complete guide to fashion for all trends and all ages, but the Rookie yearbook is definately my second fashion bible from now on, for the simple reason that always we must leave a space for the anorthodox and the original in our outfits. How old am I? 51. I adore the dreamy photographs of clothes found on thrift stores and remodeled by DIY project that the Rookie yearbook contains. Half of them look like the fairies came out of the english woods and walk among us. There is something so tender and so liberating in all those outfits who look nothing at all like the restricting and money-eating pages of Glamour and Vogue magazines, that the whole idea touches my very soul. I would not mind wear those clothes myself, even if iwould look weird. I prefare to look weird this way than to wear Missoni knit- Ferragamo shoes- LV monogramm bag and 7 jeans.
And then, there are of course the articles in the book, the intreviews as well but mostly the articles that even when they are very provocative (like the article on masturbation), they always aim to give a girl a higher self-esteem. I cannot overlook that.

I had been a fan of RookieMag.com for almost 2 years before I finally got round to purchasing this book, and I immediately ordered the 2nd Yearbook after the first had arrived... it is just gorgeous! Actually having all the artwork, photo shoots and articles as something tangible in my hands really enhances the experience. The articles are witty, intelligent, written BY teenage girls FOR teenage girls. They tackle everything from feminism, privilege and sexual abuse to midnight snacking, mastering the "b*tchface" and learning not to care what people think of you. For those of you who are parents buying this for a younger teenager, there IS a significant chunk of sex talk and education etc. in here, but it is all very intelligently discussed and cleverly put together, and Rookie is far better than the glossy 'teenage girl' magazines when it comes to body image, sex and contemporary/personal issues. However, intelligent content aside, my personal favourites were the cute free gifts (stickers, a paper crown and a flexidisc) and the beautiful photoshoots. I am so glad I discovered Rookie when I did. BUY THIS BOOK :)

I loved this book and wanted to keep it for myself - that's why I rate it highly - but I deemed it too mature for a 12 year old. I think it depends on the individual child. The book is very well done and interesting just not the right fit for my niece.

I bought this as a birthday present for my younger sister and she really loved it. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a present for a teenager, a really great alternative to a standard magazine subscription.
