This is my first of what I hope to be many reviews on books for children. Jonah loves books... more than stuffed animals actually. In the middle of the night if he comes into our room, it's a book that he has under his arm for comfort. A bit weird and not as cuddly, but he just loves stories... and this one is his current favourite.

If you have read my blog before, you will know that JB is currently going through a dino-loving phase. It is no surprise that he was immediately enamoured with this colourful and lively book. At 21 months, Jonah's vocabulary is developing rapidly and naming things seems to be his favourite thing to do at the moment. The lovely illustrations are packed with little details to engage him, with each double page giving opportunity to ask him to find anything from a dog, to a hat to a bike and even a sporran (for us Scots!)

oohThe bouncy narrative tells the reader that dinosaurs are still very much alive and part of our every day lives, integrated into our society. The story leads us to believe that dinosaurs work as lollipop ladies and hairdressers, go for romps across the countryside and are even stars of screen and sport! The rhythm of the narrative draws you into the story and tricks you into believing that you're having a jolly time until you reach the final stanza and ultimate twist (I won't spoil it!) so much so that the moment it finishes, Jonah says `more, more'!

I would highly recommend this book if you have any `dino enthusiasts' or just enjoys a silly story. This one will definitely be on our bookshelf for quite some time!

Our rating: 5/5

This rather beautiful children's story book is full of surprises! The poetry is perfect and the author really knows how to make children laugh - every child who I have read this story to has at least one chuckle, and mostly several. I love the way that dinosaurs are given human characteristics and preferences which children can identify with and it also gives a sly smile to the adult reader too! A brilliant book all round, well worth purchasing.

This is a delightful book, much loved by my grandson, (he also loves to stomp). I only hope the dinosaurs don't eat him!
