I loved the cute, little clutch on the cover of this book. That, and the patchwork belts were definitely my favourite projects in the book, and I will have a go at making them.

The book has pretty photos, and the items to make are shown made up in lovely, fresh, modern fabrics.

Other projects included:- covered coat hangers; wall storage pockets; the ubiquitous pin cusions; coasters (is wool felt a practical fabric to use here? Not sure about that!); a card; potholders, placemats; apron; scented sachets; fabric storage containers; laptop cover; coffee cup jacket; tote bag; drawstring bag; yoga mat bag; and more...

Various contributors provide the projects, so there is a range of styles, and probably something that everyone will like. There is nothing ground breaking, but lots of modern, fairly simple projects to choose from.

Okay, but not what I expected 19 May 2008
By SOBella Mommy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I ordered this book, thinking there would be some new, unique, funky projects to make. There are a few nice ones that I might try, but overall I was disappointed with the selection of projects. Most of them are quite basic and not really things that I would use or make.

If you're a beginner sewer then you'll find these projects easy, as they have good instructions. A few of the pictures of finished projects look kind of "cheap" to me, like something my kids would make...

If you're looking for some fun projects to make, I would recommend Amy Butler's In Stitches: More Than 25 Simple and Stylish Sewing Projects. The projects have a more "finished" look and I think they are more useful.

The cover is the best project 5 Jun. 2008

I was very disappointed with this book. The cover is positively enchanting, but the rest of the projects look very amateurish in my opinion.

Nothing to patch 22 Aug. 2008
By Eatwell - Published on Amazon.com

Lark Book usually offer high quality titles, but this one does not. The projects are quite amateurish and look unfinished instead of polished. Nothing original in this book.

Inspiring 22 Jan. 2009
By Kelly Schneider - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Is this the epitome of sewing project books? No, but then there isn't one of those anyways. I'm not sure what people were expecting for $13, but to me this is a great little book. The projects are all manageable for beginners but still interesting enough for intermediate sewers as well. Mostly, I found the pictures and projects inspiring. It made me think, "oh, I could do that with another project!" The projects are explained well and the pictures are quite beautiful.

Save your money! 5 Sept. 2008
By Ann Guthrie - Published on Amazon.com

Received it one day, returned it the next! It was a real disappointment in that there was nothing new or exciting in the entire book. I would have been smart to have paid attention to the other reviewers before buying this one. The one star I gave it is for appearance only.
