A revolutionary book, just as the title implies, inspiring, moving, for anyone with children or working with children - or adults, in education...recommending it to all. What a world we will live in, how much more content our kids, and us, will be when we embrace this approach...

What we all could learn today! 23 Jan. 2010
By Margaret Reilly - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I found this book to be incredibly inspiring and enlightening. I am not a teacher, but you don't need to be to get a lot out of this book. The way Catherine developed and promoted peaceful learning in her classrooms is really amazing. I found that I need to take a look at how I personally handle conflict in my own life. The fact that these children are learning to respect themselves and each other in a peaceful way, and at such a young age is so encouraging. We all could learn a lot from this book. You are never too old to learn...especially now, with so much violence and despair in the world. Think of this book as your own little contribution to promoting peace in the world! Thank you Catherine!

A book I want to give to everyone I know! 8 Aug. 2010
By Ms LV - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
"When we ignore what is alive in us while trying only to engage the intellectual processes of the students we automatically invite rebellion." -Cadden

Catherine Cadden shows us how to tap into what is alive in ourselves and in our students. Her invitation for us to be curious and undetermined is a path toward true revolution. Using true stories, hard hitting facts, and inspiring quotes from peace elders, this book make a compassionate rationale for change. Anyone who works, or lives, with people who have experienced "formal" education can benefit from reading "Peaceable Revolution Through Education".

Everyone should read this book!!! 24 Oct. 2009
By Ronald D. Cooper - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I just finished reading this book and I was inspired and joyful. Going beyond the structure of our present educational system and treating students with respect and authenticity is what education should be. Non violent communication should be mandatory in all schools. Learing to be a responsible, caring, human being is more important than the 3 R's.

Thank you Catherine for having the courage to step outside the box and exploring the true meaning of what it is to educate.
It's About Connection 28 Oct. 2009

I love this book. The author, Catherine Cadden, speaks about education being about relationships. I agree. Peaceable Revolution Through Education is a wonderful journey into the world of education as it can be. From her insightful comments to her courageous actions, this book will inspire and fill teachers, parents and students alike with hope.
Reminded me what I'm teaching for. 27 Nov. 2011

I loved reading this book. I have done workshops with Catherine and wish she lived in Australia so I could learn more from her, but this book helped me to reconnect with my purpose in becoming a teacher in the first place. It also helped me to receive empathy for my frustrations with the current education system and to wish to make a difference.
