This is a great little book, it was the 1st one i have ever had and i have to say im very impressed by it.

Its about half the size of an A4 piece of paper, so its wider than it is taller which i actually really liked.

The format is very good, the recipes are on the left and there are big bold colour pictures on the right of each recipe page.

Me and my partner have tried out about 10 of the recipes so far and we have found them extremely easy to follow and they came out relatively like the ones on the page, well apart from the presentation issues lol

Overall i was very impressed with it and i went out and got some more.

here are the recipes, there are 103 in total but there are small variation of some recipes on the bottoms of individual pages.

1. Porridge with Prune Compote
2. Bacon and Mushroom Frittata
3. Granola with Peaches and Yoghurt

This is an excellent little book. For those of us looking to loose a little weight (that's definitely me!) and stuck for interesting healthy meals, this is just the job. It has 200 recipes, all for dishes that are low in fat and high in essential nutrition.

Content: The recipes themselves are broken down into breakfast and brunch, starters, soups and stews, fish and seafood, meat and poultry, vegetarian and finally desserts. There are 20-40 recipes per section. The recipes cover a decent range of styles.

Layout: Each recipe is presented across two pages. Left hand page contains ingredients and instructions, right hand page a full colour photo of the dish. The type is a medium font and reasonably easy to read. The text includes prep time, cooking time, how many people served, ingredients and method.

Ease of use: I have tried a couple of recipes and found them easy to follow. I am a cook with not much more than a basic knowledge, and sound the style to be easy for the non cognoscenti to follow while not being condescending. Much better than some books I have used in the past!

Construction: The book is paperback, and very hard to open out and lay flat on a surface to read whilst cooking. The paperback construction suggests it will be easily damaged by kitchen spills. It is, however, nice and small, so easy to use in a crowded kitchen.

All in all 4 stars. It would have been five, but the fact that I couldn't lay the book on a work surface whilst cooking costs it one.

Two hundred recipes for when you can't think what to cook that is healthy but still tastes good. The book starts with some useful - if obvious - tips on healthy eating and healthy living in general. Then there are two hundred recipes divided into seven sections:-

Breakfast and Brunch
Starters and Light Bites
Soups and Stews
Fish and Seafood
Meat and Poultry
Vegetarian
And to Finish . . .

Lists of ingredients are comprehensive and the approximate cooking time, preparation time and number of portions in the finished dish are clearly stated for each recipe. The instructions are clear and simple. There is a colour photograph for each dish on the opposite page to the recipe.

I found this neat and well produced book interesting because it is not packed full of healthy but bland recipes. There are plenty of spices used and some more unusual - to me - ingredients such as pak choi. I am not a huge fan of fish dishes but some of the fish recipes - especially those with tuna as an ingredient - sounded appetising even to me.

I liked the fact that the desserts chapter included things like pies which are normally on the forbidden list for healthy eating showing that healthy eating need not exclude the occasional treat.

This is a nice little book with clear instructions and straightforward recipes. It size is also very convenient for people on the go and can be perused at ones leisure while making the daily commute into the office, or during a coffee break, or anytime you have a couple of moments to spare, allowing you to review recipes and plan your meals in advance.
There is a good variety of interesting and exciting recipes in the book, divided into chapters covering breakfast, starters, soups, desserts, meals for any time of the day and any occasion, each recipe consists of a page containing a list of ingredients and clear instructions, with a colour photo of the dish on the page opposite.
This book is based upon healthy eating and sometimes this is a subject often unfairly viewed as dull, put please don't let this dissuade you, just skip past the introduction initially and jump straight into the recipes. Once you have cooked and enjoyed many of these meals you will have no problem in understanding and appreciating the message in the introduction, it is not a lecture and makes complete sense.
This is a cookery book, I have enjoyed using, producing some great dishes which have been completely enjoyed, unknowingly as the Healthy option.
