This album seems to be one of McLaughlins forgotten works in the years during and following the Guitar-trio.
I can't think why this is the case; maybe it's less spectacular than his Mahavishnu-fireworks or his work with De Lucia or DiMeola, but his playing on Belo Horizonte is beautiful and very subtle.
The compositions are wonderful, especially the ballads are of the highest standard; Stardust on your Sleeve and Zamfir are highlights. Manitas D'óro is a fantastic duet with De Lucia. If you're looking for a subtle acoustic Jazz-rock album; this is it!

I have never heard in my entire life a piece of music as light, as shimmering as this; it touches the surface of your senses, but its NOT new age music; the melodies are exquisite like finely crafted miniature jewels; the stereo-field so wide as to put you in huge fields of grass beating like waves. Close your eyes and drift away.

i saw this live, a performance which included a cry for a baby in the audience, (not on the cd) everyone in the hall notices and responded to the addition.
the other musicitons on the stage smiled, i still do. this is uplifting, an including, john does indian/jazz and takes you along. Dont refuse.
(if you about to buy the latest U2 listen to this first.)

Of all the hundreds of albums I know and love, this is one of my all-time favourites: The finesse of the playing by all the musicians works so well at every level, they are all at the top of their game and bring constant surprises and joy to the music with their obvious talent.

Because it's been a favourite for so long, pieces of this music often run through my head when I'm miles from home in remote places, and I can honestly say that this album has brought me more musical joy than many many others along the way.

This is a masterpiece without doubt, and if you are in any way interested in music, I highly recommend this as extremely interesting music - buy it NOW!

This is in my opinion one of the best albums John McLaughlin has produced. It highlights his superb guitar skills, is well arranged and the performances from the many supporting musicians are exemplary.
