I am also getting 5to6 hours battery life from my Kindle Fire nowhere near the 11 hours advertised,Very disappointed

thanks for suggestion about dimming light so will try that and see if it prolongs battery as am getting two evenings reading, which is disappointing and not what advertised. Also the recharging takes forever using pc tower.Can't find any mb connectors that fit!I LOVE MY KINDLE FIRE janet ewins

Turn WiFi off as much as possible and turn on aeroplane mode as recommended in a computer magazine it's worked for me

On and playing apps etc by 9 in evening still had 20%, next i tried using without wifi watching movies playing apps etc lasted almost 3 days , i guess you need task manager app which is free then you can shut down apps when not in use hope this helps
