Doctor Who is the longest-running science fiction series in the world and has recently been awarded a Guinness World record as the most successful science fiction series ever. It’s the story of the Doctor, the mysterious traveller in time and space who has saved the universe so very many times.
The show started in 1963 and starred William Hartnell as the Doctor. When he wanted to leave the series, it was decided that Time Lords could ‘regenerate’, change their entire physical form and so over the years a succession of different actors have played the role, each one bringing their own personality to the role, but essentially always playing the same person, always trustworthy, honest, decent and a believer in right over wrong, justice over persecution.
