I recommend that you use a charger that charges nimh type batteries if you have a an old charger that charged nicad batteries I would not recommend this type of charger as the charging rate is different to the modern type I hope this helps

I purchased my batteries for a tin opener. But if the product is designed to work with rechargeable batteries they should be fine.

That depends entirely on the charger. If you put in more current then they will be done faster. Most smart chargers will take around 4 hours.
