I am unable to be definitive, but the screen (?glass) forms 70% of the back; and the rest of the camera has the 'cold' fell of metal (apart from the 'grip'), but is not magnetic. I treat mine fairly roughly, but it does not show any scratching to date....Hope this helps

Answer:
I have just seen comment made by Dav41, I bought the camera in June 2012, not used it an awful lot and it has developed the same problem - the lens will not extend - same error message shows.

Answer:
Again, Amazon have sent me a question about someone else's sale item!
If it's new and boxed I would expect it to come with these items.
If it's 2nd hand, I would expect the vendor to state what's included.
