Can't really say as we use re-chargeable batteries.
I have discovered however that for whatever reason I do not get along all that well with Touchpads unless it is for photo editing. Also it has a habit of freezing that can only be resolved by turning it off then back on.

This touchpad has pads which do a good job at keeping it in one place when used on a table or desk. This is supposed to be a replacement pointing device (although both the touchpad and a mouse can be attached and used simultaneously). I'd suggest the touchpad is placed on the desk top one side of the mouse rather than on top of it. see less

Do not see why not (without driver), compatibility between vista and win7 is very similar. The unifying Logitech should also have no problems on Vista
