i have downloaded pictures directly from my camera to my laptop. I have done this via a cable.
It seems to work quite easy for me.

Had other makes, that's why I bought 2. 1 for me & 1 for the wife
Once you put in a SD card insert to your laptop and it will be fine. Great quality photos...

Also like many compacts in bright sunlight the screen is almost impossible to see. I gave up and bought a Sony bridge camera instead - which has a viewfinder and screen. see less
