last christmas i left mine in the oven all the time it was cooking and looked to see the indicator move to the correct cook. Had no problem turkey was great would certainly recommend this product.

Yes... Push it well into the meat and leave it there throughout cooking... you'll soon get the hang of it. Then watch the temperature rise to the required temperature. You must not however put the thermometer in water... when cleaning use a damp cloth

Well, I left it in the turkey. Seems ok. Not used it since though. So I don't know if it still works. I'm cooking lamb soon . I'll leave an answer then.
