I bought this book after attending a course with one of the authors. The book links Accelerated Learning theory to practical activities for the classroom. Four children are used to illustrate the points made about different styles of learning, and amusing illustrations of the children help to direct you around the text and remind you of important points. Acronyms are used to help with recall - such as RAP for Recognition, Affirmation and Praise. The metaphor of a learning journey (hence the name ALPS) is used to good effect, with target setting being the signposting for the journey, the children carrying rucksacks of self esteem, and so on. This book is an essential read for all teachers interested in brain based learning - and the authors make the point that there is no learning that is not brain based! The book gives numerous practical ideas, and I recommend following it up by reading the 'ALPS Resource Book' by the same authors.
