This is a humourous romp through the minefield that is recruitment and advancement in the modern office. It incorporates CV tips, interview techniques, social media no-no's and tips on handling the Boss's PA and his wife.
Many manuals have been written (and will no doubt continue to be written) on getting a job and advancing your career. Many more on office politics and how to survive them. There may be a few on handling the Boss's wife, although I'm not aware of them if there are. Few books (none, actually) have successfully combined all these subjects in the past and wrapped them in a light-hearted, entertaining package.
On this journey through the modern office career this book takes in handling staff, managing affairs (always with another married person who lives at least 100 miles away), writing letters and memos, using the telephone and that perennial minefield, the office Christmas party.
This is an excellent read and one which, though entertaining, also contains nuggets of real-world common sense and advice.
Just remember - how you answer when your boss asks "Can you work late tonight?" could affect your entire career...
