Have used Zyliss Vegetable choppers for years buying them from 'Lakeland'.... they stopped selling them some time ago so when I broke my 3rd in approx 20 years I was desperate thinking Zyliss had stopped manufacturing them.
NO !!! there was Amazon and here they are...... don't know how I would chop my onions for Indian meals without it. There are other types sold but not as good as this.

Avoid - not worth the hassle 11 May 2012

I hugely regret buying this product as I've since seen much better designed choppers that not only work very well but which are not so difficult to put back together again. I used this twice and unfortunately, after 4 different people have tried, no one has been able to get it back together again so it's heading for the bin. I think this must have been designed by someone who never needed to chop food as even when it was put together well, the mechanism was not smooth and easy - you had to really whack it.
There is nothing positive I can say about this product. I wish I never purchased it.

I've only really used this 4/5 times. It's not not really worth the effort - you have to wack the top quite hard to chop properly.
But the annoying thing is that it takes a while to clean it - it's really easy to take apart but fiddly to clean all the nooks and
crannies, and sometimes difficult to put back together. Might be ok if you have a dishwasher...

I realised it's quicker to chop the onions/shallots with a knife and does a better job.

It would only really be useful if you have a lot of onions to chop all the time(which was the initial reason I bought it - but
turned out I didn't end up using a lot(long story)).
