I was recommended this by a friend and despite the many negative reviews on Amazon I decided to try it, as I wasn't convinced that many of the negative reviewers had given it a fair trial.
I've just used mine for the first time - no problems at all. It was comfy to hold and not heavy - even with the batteries it only weighed about 8 oz - the weight of a medium banana. It was easy to guide through the peel and didn't miss any bits - and it didn't get stuck then come shooting off to cut my left hand, either, like ordinary ones usually do. There was not much vibration - in fact all I felt was a bit in the hand holding the potato, none in the hand holding the peeler. No, you can't whizz it through the peel as quick as with a basic blade but if you were able to do that you wouldn't be thinking of buying one of these, would you? It took less than 5 minutes to peel two large potatoes which is plenty quick enough for me and takes a lot of the strain out of peeling. Both the blade cover and battery cover fit well on my peeler, and it was no noisier than most battery-powered gadgets.
