Has errors 17 Jan 2005
By RicherR
This version has a fundamental error. When the game ends, the values displayed at the end reflects the amount of cash held by the players, not the net asset values. Even when bankrupt the value of cash held prior to bankruptcy is displayed. This is also true when quitting the game.

If player 1 has £5000 of properties (un-mortgaged) and £100 cash and player 2 has £1000 of properties (all mortgaged) with £200 cash prior to landing on, say Mayfair with hotel (rent of £2000), the system will say that Player 1 has £100 and Player 2 has £200 which infers that player 2 has won.

The graphics are very good, but there is no option to speed play up. Additionally, the Game Options are not very flexible, If, for example, you want to put a time limit on play, the system will automatically dish out a couple of properties to each of the players at start of play.

I am reverting back to my old black and white original version.

A rendition of a classic game with some annoying flaws. As richerrh explains in their review, the scoring system doesn't take into account your properties. Seeing as this is basically a property game, surely this can't be right.

There are also some other general annoyances, not being able to save a game to go back to later is one. Being offered a trade with another player and not being able to check your current properties is another. The computer players always seem to land on Mayfair first. The auctioning feature is VERY unfair to human players when playing against the computer.

In all, I would say that the inability to save the game is the most annoying. The times I've pressed pause, turned the GBA light off and closed it up, gone for dinner, only to come back and find that the battery has run out.

In all, I think that it is a very good game when played against your friends, but playing against the computer when it has these faults is hardly fun at all.

Where's the Fun? 23 Feb 2006
I originally bought this game because I thought it would have all the fun of the original Game Boy release with a lot of added graphics and colour. However, upon playing it proved that the game had some serious flaws! The graphics were in an irritating isometric stance, the controls were fiddly and getting things done was a nightmare! I purely think that this was nothing more than a show-off game that had Monopoly warped around it - and not very well either!

After getting very fustrated I decided to get my money back for it and go back to playing the original GameBoy version. It's a LOT better!
